All natural coloring
Get ready for a shock. There are absolutely no artificial colors in this no sugar lavender lemonade! The beautiful mauve shade comes naturally from lavender and blue butterfly pea flower powder.
If you’ve never heard of blue butterfly pea flower powder before, you’ve absolutely got to order some online right away. This magical ingredient will transform all your food and drinks into enchanting, colorful creations.
Blue butterfly pea flower is a Thai herbal flower that has incredible medicinal and ayurvedic properties. It’s been used in Thailand for centuries to reduce stress and for its anti-ageing benefits. The powder made from the flower is 100% vegan, paleo, gluten-free and dairy-free, so everyone can give it a shot. And because its flavors are so subtle, you can add it to almost any food or drink without changing the taste.
Don’t worry about this sugar-free lavender lemonade being sour. It’s definitely not. Instead of using sugar to balance out the tartness, this recipe uses agave nectar.
Sweeter than sugar despite its low glycemic index, agave nectar has a neutral flavor and doesn’t leave a bitter aftertaste in your mouth like some artificial sweeteners do. This makes it a great option for people with a sweet tooth who want a healthier option than traditional sweeteners.
This healthy lavender lemonade is based on homemade lavender syrup. To make it, all you need to do is boil water, agave nectar and lavender flowers together for a few minutes until the flavors infuse.
The longer you leave the ingredients together, the stronger the lavender taste will be. So if you really want your no sugar lavender lemonade to pack a punch, leave the ingredients together overnight before straining in the morning.
If you’re struggling to get a hold of lavender, you can usually find it for sale in farmers’ markets throughout summer. Or you can always buy it online.
