The Red Wine Cinnamon Citrus Sangria is the best known summer drink based on wine. Its purpose is bracing and refreshing.

Red wine sangria is so traditional and classic.

Usually sangria is made from the cheapest wine but I suggest you use wine to your liking.

Your favorite wine must be the basis of this beverage so you will get a lot of pleasure.

I can call this sangria recipe summer mulled wine because of it’s spicery, citrus freshness. Also this drink remind me quiet evenings when after snow walking my family and I warmed ourselves with mulled wine by the fire.

In summer, when you and your family cool with this beverage, drink fruit wine and have heart-to-heart chats. I think it’s more evening drink so you can take it after dinner (or instead of meal) with the cheese plate or fruits which complement this sangria well.

Useful tips for Red Wine Cinnamon Citrus Sangria

It’s so important to crush all citruses with a muddler to release the mint and citrus oils and juices.

Chill it no less than 4 hours or better overnight. During this time wine will combine with fruits and absorb all flavors and spices.

Don’t use packaged juice, make your own fresh orange juice and your sangria’s taste will be soft and tender.

If you want your sangria would be more sweet use sugar syrup of honey when you crush the fruits, you also can add some grenadine.

I got this Summer red wine sangria recipe from my grandma, when she was in Spain, she tasted of lot of sangrias but citrus sangria was her favorite and now it’s family recipe. We often make sangria recipe when the whole family sitting around the dinner table.

Put all citruses in a big measure cup, add mint, ground cinnamon. Use a muddler to crush it to release the mint and citrus oils and juices.
