Homemade Peanut Butter + Breakfast Sandwich

To make this peanut butter, all you need is 1 single ingredient (peanuts!), a food processor and less than 10 minutes of your time.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Dry roasted peanuts salted
  • Sandwich bread
  • Banana

Instructions

  • Add the peanuts into the bowl of a food processor and blend in 60-second intervals for 4-5 minutes. Leave your food processor to rest in between blends so you don’t burn out the motor. Scrape down the insides of the food processor with a rubber spatula to make sure all the peanuts are well blended.
  • The peanuts will go through the following texture stages:
  • Coarsely crushed peanuts.
  • Finely crushed peanuts, almost like a powder
  • A rough, powdery peanut paste.
  • A thicker, more solid paste.
  • A peanut butter dough-like ball.
  • Runny peanut butter.
  • Smooth peanut butter.
  • When the peanut butter becomes runny, continue blending for 60 more seconds, until you reach your desired smooth consistency.
  • Pour the peanut butter into an air-tight jar or container before covering and storing in the refrigerator for up to 2 months.
  • TO MAKE A SANDWICH: toast 2 slices of your favorite sandwich bread until they’re just how you like them.
  • Spread on a generous amount of your homemade peanut butter, top with slices of banana and enjoy your breakfast sandwich!

My final tip for making this peanut butter is to use a powerful food processor with a strong motor. Grinding down dry peanuts without any added liquid can put a lot of strain on a food processor’s motor.
